First, Confucius is making a comparison between ordinary people and rich second generation. Ordinary people need to study harder because they can't fight for their father, so they should learn something before becoming an official. For the rich second generation, because it is hereditary, it is natural to take over a large number of industries. But they will also start learning when they encounter problems in their own industries and jobs. Confucius expressed his attitude towards these two kinds of people. Because Confucius is an ordinary person, when appointing talents, he will choose someone who studies first and then becomes an official. Because he thinks such people have the potential to cultivate. For most of us ordinary people, whether it is the realization of action or knowledge, the most important thing is that we study tirelessly, improve ourselves and improve ourselves, and finally believe that we will get the results and achievements we deserve one day.
In the second sentence, Confucius seems to be talking about his disciples, but he is actually praising himself. It is a kind of happiness that disciples are not at home, because everyone has gone far away and achieved something. The greatest happiness of being a teacher is that shine on you is better than blue. We always hope that as the front waves of the Yangtze River, we can be photographed on the beach by the back waves. This is success, and it is a great shame to have no successor. There is also a saying that Confucius felt sorry that his disciples were not around and he could not continue to cultivate them and spread his thoughts.
