It is said that at that time, disasters continued year after year, and plagues prevailed. Li Yi used a small bamboo tube to contain nitrate, which was ignited to disperse the miasma in Shan Lan with smoke, thus reducing the epidemic of plagues, and firecrackers were quickly popularized. Therefore, Li Yi was regarded as the founder of fireworks by the fireworks industry.
At present, Liuyang and Liling in Hunan, Shangli and Wanzai in Jiangxi, which are the main producing areas of fireworks, all pay homage to them. Lifan Square is a landmark in many places, and Liuyang Fireworks Festival is world-famous.
In order to make firecrackers, Li Yi went through a lot of hardships. His hands and feet were injured many times, and his house was destroyed by the fire. He was not able to get married on time until he was middle-aged, when he married a poor girl in surnamed tang. Since then, he continued to engage in the production of firecrackers and the refining of nitroglycerin, and eventually died of illness due to overwork at the age of 7.
In p>1999, Li Wan Park was built in Shangli County, Jiangxi Province. The park covers an area of more than 12 mu, and a bronze statue of Li Wan with a height of 15 meters has stood on Longhe Mountain. According to Pingxiang Local Records, in the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (AD 137), the people of Shangli set up the ancestor of firecrackers in the "You Sheng Guan" and went to the "You Sheng Guan" on April 18th every year to offer sacrifices to Li Yi.
