109 years ago, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent Guo Chang, a general, to Yunnan to conquer Southwest Yi, set up Yizhou County and Twenty-four Counties, and the county ruled Mianchi County (now Jinning) to open up trade routes to Myanmar and India, and sent Tang Mengxiu to expand Wuchi Road, renamed it "Southwest Yi Road".

In the 1930s, cuan clan was king in Kunchuan (now Jinning), and cuan clan (see Yi people; Six imperial edicts) ruled 400 years.
