How to use Kangxi dictionary?

Use Kangxi dictionary to look up words, using radical method and stroke method.

The dictionary adopts radical classification and arranges words according to strokes. The dictionary is divided into twelve sets, marked by twelve branches, namely, subset, ugly set, Yin set, maoji, Chen set, Four Books set, Wu set, unfinished set, Shen set, You set, Xu set and Hai set.

1. The radical search has the Song formula: find one son and two sons, ask Ugly Yin for three paintings, set it for four days, leave it at noon on five and six days, and keep the rest in Hai Department. Or "One, two, three ugly girls, four bases in Tatsumi, Friday afternoon, seven undeclared in Youzhong, eight or nine deposits in the sea." The main idea is that the strokes of radicals are one or two in the subset, three in the ugly and yin sets, and so on.

For example, look up the word "Kang". Look for "Yan" in the radical index, five pages below "Yin". Except for the radicals, "Li" is 8 paintings, and then the word "Kang" in the 8 paintings of "With Light" can be seen on page 9 of Yin Xiaji.

2. Stroke search is used to search difficult words, and you can look up the vocabulary according to strokes.

For example, look up the word "people". If you don't know its radical, you can look it up in the stroke dictionary. "Min" is five paintings, which can be found in them. "Min" is taken as "Division", and then look up "Division" in "Radical Index". The word "teacher" can be found on page 33 of Chen Ji, and the word "people" can be found in the "teacher" department 1 painting in Chen Ji.
