What is a letter format template?

Letter format template:

(1) appellation: top case, and some can also add certain qualifiers and modifiers.

Greetings: If you write "Hello" and "How are you recently", you can pick up the text.

Text: This is the main body of the letter, which can be written into several paragraphs. The title and capitalization in the second half of the greeting are a kind of respect for the recipient. It is a continuation of the tradition of "looking up" in ancient letters.

Ancient letters were written vertically, including the name or address of the other party. In order to show respect, no matter where you write it, you should mention the other person's name or address to the next line. Its basic practice has been absorbed by modern letters.

④ Date and time: for example, "March 3, 2022".

⑤ Signature. The author's name is written on the right of a blank line or two below the eulogy. It is best to write down the relationship with the recipient before the name of the writer, such as son, father, your friend, etc. Write the date on the next line.

If you forget to write anything, you can leave a blank line under the date, write "Attached" in two blank spaces, and write the unfinished business on a new line.

Letters have a long history and their formats have changed several times. Today, according to the usual custom, the format of a letter mainly includes five parts: title, body, ending, signature and date.

English letter format:

1, letterhead

Write the address and date of the sender on the stationery, but don't write the sender's name. The address is written in the same format as the address on the envelope.

On the date, Americans adopt the order of "month, day and year" (such as 201August 2, 3), and there is a comma between day and year; The British, on the other hand, mostly use the order of "day, month and year", and do not use commas between days, months and years (for example, 2 August 1982).

2. Address

The recipient's address is written on the left side of the stationery, one or two lines below the address in the letter (if there is no address in the letter, push it up to the beginning of the letter).

Generally speaking, the idiom "dear" is added before the name and address of the recipient, such as: dear Ms. Liu, dear Professor Chen, etc.

3. Text

This is the main part of this letter. When writing official letters, we should try our best to get to the point, with concise language, clear hierarchy and prominent focus.

When writing letters to relatives and friends, try to be warm and concise.

4. Concluding remarks

Like Chinese letters, English letters need a polite conclusion, which is simple and fixed in content and format: the first letter of the conclusion is always capitalized, followed by a comma.

If you write letters or official letters to strangers, you often use "your own truth", "yours faithfully" and "yours sincerely". In America, you often omit your and use the word sincerity directly.

If you write to your superiors, elders or teachers, you often use "Sincerely".

If you write to your relatives or close friends, you often use "your dear father (mother, daughter, son)", "yours", "yours forever", "your affectionate" and so on.

Step 5 sign

The writer should usually sign his name at the end of the letter. If writing to a stranger, a female friend always puts "Mrs" or "Miss" in brackets when printing her signature, so that the other party will know how to address you.
