I am from Shanba, Inner Mongolia. I have lived here for so many years that I don't know what samba means. Please explain it to me.
The first resident of Shanba was a man named Shanba (Shanba is a Tibetan transliteration of Qiangba, Shamba or Songba). According to the explanation of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, "Qiangba", "Xiangba" and "Songba" are used in Tibetan as Buddhist names, names or place names, and there are no Mongolian elderly people. Shamba believes in Lamaism. Due to the mutual influence of Mongolia and Tibet in religious beliefs, the Mongolian old man has a Tibetan name since he was a child. 1874 or so, Samba settled in Shahai Trench in Shanba. He knows both Mongolian and Chinese. He is well-informed, upright, fair and helpful, and many villagers nearby are very close. Shamba is not only famous in this village, but also spread in all directions. People who go to this village often say, "Go to Shamba (where Shamba lives)". Over time, names become place names. Due to the cross-talk and inflection in Mongolian, Chinese and different dialects, "Shaanxi Ba" gradually evolved into "Shaanxi Ba".
