Li Shizhen (15 18- 1593), a famous physician and pharmacologist in Ming Dynasty, established the Li Shizhen Memorial Hall in Zhulinhu Village, where Li Shizhen's tomb is located in Qichun County, Hubei Province, in memory of this scientific giant who has made great contributions to mankind. The whole memorial hall covers an area of 50,000 square meters and consists of five parts: Baicao stele gallery, memorial exhibition, medical museum, Baicao Garden and cemetery. The museum is surrounded by trees, green water and green mountains, rolling mountains and flowers, just like a paradise.
The antique door of the memorial hall is inlaid with the name of the museum inscribed by Deng Xiaoping on July 8th, 1987. The exhibition form of the memorial hall is mainly a closed cabinet with indoor lighting equipment. The exhibits mainly include 1000 pieces of historical relics, documents, medicinal specimens, charts, photos, portraits, sculptures, etc., which vividly and systematically introduce Li Shizhen's life and the great achievements of Compendium of Materia Medica. There are many precious ancient books in the collection, especially various versions of Compendium of Materia Medica since Ming and Qing Dynasties. In addition, there are many ancient paintings and calligraphy works and modern celebrity paintings and calligraphy works, which fully embodies the collection characteristics of the historical celebrity memorial hall and integrates commemorative, professional and scientific features.
Since its establishment 20 years ago, the memorial hall has received more than 2 million Chinese and foreign guests, which has had an important political and cultural influence at home and abroad.
