The rare plants in China refer to the rare and endangered plants existing in China. If these plants are not valued and protected, it will seriously affect the ecological balance and sustainable development.
Rare Plant Species in China
On June 18, 2008, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences organized relevant personnel to start the hard work of saving rare and endangered plants.
1986 published the research results of "Rare and Endangered Plants in China and Yunnan I", 1987 conducted a national survey and statistics, published a list of rare and endangered plants in China, including 398 species of key protected plants in China. Among them, 8 species are listed as national key protected plants.
1. Metasequoia. Metasequoia glyptostroboides was first discovered in Modaoxi (now called Modaoxi) in Wanxian County, Sichuan Province, and was first discovered by Chinese botanists in 194 1. Later, it was found in Wanxian and Shizhu counties of Sichuan Province, Lichuan City of Hubei Province, Longshan and Sangzhi of Hunan Province. Metasequoia glyptostroboides has the characteristics of strong adaptability, strong regionality, suitable for humid climate and rapid growth.
2. Davidia involucrata, also known as "dove tree in China" or "dove flower tree" or "water pear", was first discovered in southwest Sichuan Province and central Hubei Province, with bright colors and high ornamental value. Relict plant, left by the Cenozoic thousands of years ago, is a "living fossil" in the plant kingdom. At present, it can only be found in a few areas in southern China. Fortunately, Lucheng in Luoyang, Henan Province has been successfully propagated on a large scale.
3. Camellia chrysantha. Camellia chrysantha was first discovered in Nanning, Guangxi. Scientists in China discovered it in 1960. Because the flowers in Jin Chahua are golden yellow, they are called golden camellia. In foreign countries, it is honored as "magical oriental tea" or "giant panda in plant kingdom" or "queen of tea family"
4. Mount Taiwan Province. Taiwania flousiana was first discovered in a mountain forest with an altitude of about 65,438+0,500 to 2,500 meters in central Bao Dao, Taiwan Province Province, China. Its history can be traced back to Tertiary, and it belongs to an ancient tropical flora-relict plant District.
5. Silver fir. Cryptomeria fortunei was first discovered in Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei, Chongqing and Hunan. It is suitable to settle in the area of 940- 1870 meters above sea level, and likes to grow in broad-leaved forests and ridge areas.
6. Look up at the sky. Wangtianshu was first discovered in the area of 20 square kilometers from Bubeng, Guangnalixinzhai to Jingpiao in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, China. It was discovered by members of Yunnan Forestry Expedition Team 1 1 in 1975. At present, it is also found in Southeast Asia.
7. prickly. Alsophila spinulosa was first discovered in Xizang Autonomous Region, Chishui, Guizhou and other places in southern China, and it also enjoys the reputation of "living fossil". Suitable for shady places under forests and by streams, found in Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Sikkim, Bhutan, Philippines, India and southern Japan.
8. ginseng. The record of ginseng was first found in the Biography of Shile, Jin Shu: Ginseng was born in Shile (274-333) in Wuxiang, Shangdang, and planted in its garden. Ginseng belongs to angiosperms at the earliest, and its life span is over 4000 years. It grows at an altitude of 2200 ~ 1000 meters, suitable for humid areas, and is located in the sun and rain shelter from the east and west.
