The Origin of "Houyi Shooting the Sun"

First, the origin of myth

The story of Houyi shooting the sun comes from Sheyang County, Jiangsu Province. According to legend, Sheyang County is named after Jingwei's reclamation. To commemorate Houyi Shooting Day, Sheyang built a landmark building-China Houyi altar and a famous tourist attraction-Houyi Park. According to the origin of the county name "Sheyang" and the legend of "Houyi shooting the sun", eight landscape walls and eight stone balls are set at the entrance of the park, which echoes the "Chinese Houyi altar" not far away, meaning that Houyi shoots nine suns and is beneficial to the world. In addition, every characteristic landscape in the park is connected with the culture of "Houyi shooting the sun", stringing together an ancient and beautiful legend.

In addition, the easy-to-shoot "phase" was on the tenth day, and Gai mistakenly wrote the word "phase" as "the tenth day" because of the mistake of copying ancient books. Ten days after Iraq's shooting, it was actually the death of Hou Yi.

Taikang died soon after he lost his country. His people established his younger brother Zhong Kang and lived near Luoshui. Zhong Kang died and his son stood together. Later, under the pursuit of Hou Yi, he fled to Diqiu (now Puyang, Henan Province) to find and fill his surname. At this point, Qiu Xun's family has moved from the Ilo Plain to the northeast of Henan, and Qiu Guan's family is in the north of Fan County at the junction of Henan and Shandong. In order to prevent the resurgence of Xia Hou's forces, Han Zhuo ordered the commander to "kill the enemy bravely and try his best to find and destroy Xia Hou's forces". Then it was sealed in Guo (now in the north of Ye County, Shandong Province, or in the southeast of Taikang County, Henan Province) and sealed in Ge (between Song and Zheng Dynasties, about central and eastern Henan Province) to control the east. When Han Jue attacked and killed Hou Yi, his wife Hou Kun fled to the place where her mother's family was still in southwest Shandong (with a stone man, now Rencheng) and gave birth to a posthumous child Shao Kang.

There is also the Classic of Mountains and Seas: "What is the country between Gansu and Shuihe? There is a woman named Xi He taking a bath in Gan Yuan. He Jun's wife was born ten days ago. " Scholars are more convinced that "Ten Days" is not what ten suns are, but names of people! "Ten days" means "phase". His son was killed by Hou Yi and Han Gang, and Xiang's son Shao Kang fled to Nan Man. With the help of surname and Shi Yu, he sent troops to destroy Han Zhuo in one fell swoop and successfully rejuvenate the country. Photovoltaic Xia Dynasty was called "Shao Kang Zhongxing" in history.

Second, the ancient records

According to the South Classic of Mountains and Seas and the East longitude of Huang Da, "Di Jun's wife He was born ten days ago." These ten suns live in a tree and appear in turn. Come one day and come out the other. Wang Yi, the Songs of Chu, quoted Huainanzi as saying: "Ten days after Yao came out, the grass and trees were burnt." So easy to draw a bow and an arrow. "If we shoot from the back for ten days, by the ninth day, nine Japanese, China and Ukrainians will have died and their wings will have fallen off, so we will stay for one day." Human order has been restored. Ten suns are the sons of the Emperor of Heaven. You need not only magical skills, but also superhuman courage to shoot down for nine days.

Third, the story

When the world was young, ten suns appeared in the sky at the same time. Their mother is the wife of the Eastern Emperor. She often bathes ten children in Donghai, China, the easternmost part of the world. After taking a bath, they perch on a big tree like birds, because there is a bird in the center of every sun. Nine suns perched on the shorter branches, and the other perched on the treetops, changing every night.

When the dawn heralds the dawn, the sun perched on the treetops rides across the sky in a two-wheeled vehicle. Ten suns are changing every day, crossing the sky in turn, bringing light and heat to everything on earth.

At that time, people lived very happily and harmoniously on the earth. People and animals live together like neighbors and friends. Animals put their offspring in their nests without worrying that people will hurt them. Farmers pile grains in the fields without worrying that animals will take them away. People work and rest on time, work at sunrise, rest at sunset and live a happy life. People and animals meet each other with sincerity and respect each other as guests. At that time, people were grateful to the sun for bringing them time, light and joy.

One day, however, ten suns thought it would be interesting if they traveled around the sky together. Then, at dawn, ten suns climbed into the car together and embarked on a journey across the sky. As a result, people and everything on earth will suffer. Ten suns are like ten fireballs, and their heat scorches the earth.

The forest caught fire and burned to ashes, killing many animals. Those animals that didn't die in the fire wandered around the crowd, frantically looking for food.

The river dried up and so did the sea. When all the fish died, the monsters in the water climbed ashore to steal food. Many people and animals died of thirst. Crops and orchards withered, and food for people and animals was cut off. Some people go out for food and are burned alive by the high temperature of the sun; Others become food for wild animals. People struggled to survive in the fire.

At this time, there was a handsome young hero named Hou Yi. He is an archer, and his archery is superb. Seeing that people are living in misery, he decided to help people get rid of misery and shoot out nine redundant suns.

So Hou Yi climbed ninety-nine mountains, crossed ninety-nine rivers, crossed ninety-nine canyons and came to the East China Sea. He climbed a mountain, at the foot of which was the vast sea. Hou Yi opened a crossbow with a force of ten thousand Jin, took a sharp arrow with a weight of one thousand Jin, aimed it at the burning sun in the sky, and shot it out with a swish. The first sun was shot down. Hou Yi opened his crossbow again, took a sharp arrow, and shot it with a buzz, shooting down two suns at the same time. Now, there are seven suns in the sky staring at their red eyes. Hou Yi felt that these suns were still very hot and shot the third arrow violently. This arrow hit four suns. The other suns trembled with fear and kept spinning. In this way, Hou Yi shot an arrow at the sun one by one, killing nine suns. The nine suns with arrows can't survive, and they die one by one. Their feathers fell to the ground, and their light and heat disappeared one after another. The earth is getting darker and darker until at last there is only a ray of sunshine left.

However, the rest of the sun was so scared that it staggered in the sky and panicked that it quickly hid in the sea.

Without the sun in the sky, it immediately became dark. Everything can't be bred by the sun, there are poisonous snakes and beasts everywhere, and people can't survive. They asked the gods in the sky to call out the tenth sun so that all human beings could continue to reproduce.

One morning, in the East China Sea, colorful morning glow was reflected, and then a golden sun came out of the sea!

When people saw the brilliance of the sun, they danced with joy and cheered in unison.

From then on, the sun rises from the eastern seaside every day, hangs in the sky, warms the world, seedlings grow and everything survives.

Houyi shot at the sun to save the world, and his merits were boundless. He was named a heavenly general by the Emperor of Heaven. Later, he married the fairy Chang 'e and lived a happy life.
