The historical status of Haiyuan Pavilion

Haiyuan Pavilion is located in the North Yang Family House on Dongshou Road, Wanshouguan Street, Gucheng District, Liaocheng City. It was founded in the 20th year of Daoguang (1840 AD) by Yang Yizeng, governor of the Jiangnan River in the Qing Dynasty, a famous bibliophile and a native of Liaocheng. ). Haiyuan Pavilion is a three-bay two-story pavilion facing south on a hard ridge. The lower part is the Yang family ancestral hall, and the upper part is the Song and Yuan rare book collection. There is a plaque "Haiyuan Pavilion" written by Yang Yizeng hanging in the middle of the eaves. On the two pillars in the middle of the pavilion there are couplets "Eat and recommend new beans in four seasons, and thousands of books are stored in Xiaolangxuan". The Yang family's book collection began with Yang Zhaoyu, the father of Yang Yizeng. Later, through the efforts of four generations, Yang Yizeng, Yang Shaohe, Yang Baoyi and Yang Chengxun, they collected various books. Over the past hundred years, the collection has gradually become richer. In total, it has collected more than 4,000 kinds of ancient woodcut and printed books from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, more than 220,000 volumes, and numerous inscriptions, calligraphy and paintings. Its collection of books is vast, its editions are exquisite, and its cultural relics are rich, and it is famous throughout the country. The Chinese History Museum lists Haiyuan Pavilion as one of the four buildings of the Qing Dynasty along with Qu Shaoji's "Iron Qin and Bronze Sword Tower" in Changshu, Jiangsu, Ding Shen and Ding Bing's "Eight Thousand Volumes Tower" in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and "Hundred Song Tower" by Lu Xinyuan in Wuxing, Zhejiang. The Haiyuan Pavilion, together with the "Wenyuan Pavilion" and "Huang Shicheng" in Beijing and the "Tianyi Pavilion" in Ningbo, are listed as examples of official and private book collections in Chinese history. Haiyuan Pavilion has made positive contributions to the development of my country's cultural undertakings. "Chinese Version Engraved Illustrations" contains 44 types of Haiyuange books and shadows. The first four histories of the punctuated edition of "Twenty-Four Histories" were printed using the Haiyuange collection of books as the main reference. In 1972, when Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei visited China , Chairman Mao Zedong gave him the "Collected Commentary on Songs of Chu" which is also a photocopy of the books in Haiyuan Pavilion.
