What was the ancient name of Guangxi?

Known as Guangxi and Luoyue.

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Lingnan was called the land of Baiyue, and Guangxi was a part of Baiyue. In 2 14 BC, the Qin Dynasty conquered Baiyue and set up Guilin County, Nanhai County and Elephant County in Lingnan. Now most of Guangxi belongs to Guilin County and Xiang County, so Guangxi is called "Gui".

In the pre-Qin period, Guangxi was also called Luoyue State. During the Three Kingdoms period, most of them belonged to Wu, and a small part of northwest Guangxi belonged to Shu. Later, after the development of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, Guangxi began to be called in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. There are more than 30 ethnic minorities in Guangxi (today) because of the constant change of territory and floating population! There are many kinds of languages and complicated dialects.

Nowadays, the vernacular spoken by many Nanning people actually belongs to Cantonese (Sino-Tibetan language family), which is close to the pronunciation characteristics of ancient Chinese. Cantonese originated in the northern Central Plains, was brought to Guangdong and Guangxi by the Central Plains people in Qin and Han Dynasties, and then merged with ancient South Vietnam.

But the early Cantonese center was not in Guangzhou, but in Guangxin, namely Wuzhou in Guangxi and Fengkai in Guangdong in the Han Dynasty. Nanning vernacular was first introduced into Nanning as a local official language in Qing Dynasty.
