Kangxi Dictionary is a book published in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. It was written by more than 30 famous scholars such as Zhang Yushu and Chen Tingjing. It was updated on the basis of dictionaries and orthography in Ming Dynasty. The compilation of this book began in the forty-ninth year of Kangxi, that is, 17 10, and was completed in the fifty-fifth year of Kangxi, that is, 17 16, which lasted six years, so it was named Kangxi Dictionary. Kangxi Dictionary was presided over by Zhang Yushu and Chen Tingjing, the chief editors, and was personally examined and approved by Emperor Kangxi. It is a far-reaching Chinese dictionary. The book is divided into 12 episodes, including 47035 Chinese characters, which is one of the main reference materials for studying Chinese characters.
