According to the Biography of Jia Donation in Han Dynasty, the original inhabitants of Hainan Island in the Western Han Dynasty were called "Luoyue people". According to archaeological research, the "Luoyue people" here are a branch of the ancient Baiyue people. Based on this, it can be concluded that the ancestors of Li nationality are descendants of Baiyue people. According to the "cultural accumulation layer" of the earliest cultural relic in Sanya, Haiti, the ancestors of the Li nationality crossed the Qiongzhou Strait from Guangdong and Guangxi to the northern part of Hainan Island more than once in the early Neolithic period (more than 7,000 years ago, equivalent to the Yin and Zhou Dynasties in the Central Plains).
