What is "ethnobotany"
Our great motherland consists of 56 brotherly countries. The industrious and intelligent working people of all ethnic groups have created the botany of our nation while creating brilliant scientific culture. Ethnobotany is a science developed by the working people of all ethnic groups in our country in their lives and labor, making use of local unique plants for development and utilization. For example, the Uighurs, who live in Xinjiang, the western border of our country, take water and flour soaked in hops of cannabis family as their staple food. This not only makes the noodles ferment quickly, but also makes the naan particularly delicious; The Daur people who live in the northeast of China eat the leaves of Artemisia annua, a compositae vegetable oil, as an exquisite dish, which is called "Kun Pierer". When entertaining the distinguished guests, they stewed the prepared wormwood leaves with beans and fat pork into a famous dish. Han people living in Hainan Island drink the water in the leaf basin of the insectivorous plant Nepenthes as a tonic to promote their health. Korean people living in the northeast of China pickled the roots of platycodon grandiflorum into delicious pickles to eat; Tibetans living on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the roof of the world, have rich experience in using wild plants to treat diseases, and have exhibited unique Tibetan medicine. The Mongolians in China mainly live in the Inner Mongolia grassland in the northern frontier. In their long-term life and production practice, they have also accumulated rich experience in using plant resources, mainly using feed plants, medicinal plants, vegetable plants, tea trees, edible plants and production plants. Many other ethnic groups have made beneficial contributions to the development of ethnobotany in China. Our country has a long history and culture, and there are many unique ethnobotanical experiences among the brotherly nations worth exploring. We should pay attention to exploring this treasure house of botanical knowledge and make more contributions to the construction of the motherland.
