Changes of Huajiachi Campus of Zhejiang University

In 1934, the Agricultural College of Zhejiang University moved from Jianqiao to Huajiachi, and established a new school building beside Huajiachi.

In the summer of p>1937, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out and the Agricultural College moved to Meitan, Guizhou.

In p>1945, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the Agricultural College moved back to Hangzhou from Meitan. However, during the westward movement, the original site of the Agricultural College was destroyed, and the beautiful Huajiachi was devastated. The school building standing beside Huajiachi no longer existed and the campus was in ruins. Under the leadership of President Zhu Kezhen, Shennong Pavilion, Hou Ji Pavilion, Lei Zu Pavilion, Xizhai and Hua 1-Hua 4 Zhai have been built in the south of Huajiachi since 1946. Shennong, Hou Ji and Lei Zu pavilions are teaching office buildings, the name of which means "don't forget to take agriculture as the foundation". In ancient China, there were legends that Shennong cultivated crops, Hou Ji cultivated crops and Lei Zu cultivated silkworms. Xizhai was a library, while Huazhi-Huazhi-Sizhai was a student dormitory.

in the 198s, Huajiachi campus has become one of the most beautiful campuses in China's ordinary universities. In 1993, it was awarded the honorary title of "Top 3 Afforestation and Greening Units in China" by the National Greening Committee. In the book "National Human Geography", Huajiachi of Zhejiang University was listed as 66 most beautiful places in China universities.

after decades of construction, the beautiful landscape of "three mountains, one island, six pavilions and one corridor" has been formed around Huajiachi. There are many scenic spots around the pool, such as "Xiao Gu Shan", "Xiao San Tan Yin Yue", "Xiao Ping Hu Qiu Yue" and "Xiao Su Causeway", so it has the reputation of "Xiao West Lake".
