Virginia Woolf describes a profound loneliness with the writing skill of stream of consciousness. The distant scenery and the ghost of a strange island triggered the Ramsey family's desire to go to the lighthouse. In fact, ten years later, the Ramsey family finally boarded the lighthouse, and Lily finally bravely raised the brush and drew the last stroke of the haunting oil painting. The last sentence of the novel reads: I finally drew my own illusion.
