Campus environment of Nanjing Jinling Middle School

The bell tower of Huiwen College, the main campus of Jinling Middle School, was built in the spring of 1888 when Luo Fu, the American Christian American-Israeli-American Association, founded Huiwen College. It is the tallest building in Nanjing at the end of 19 and the earliest existing school building built by Christians in Nanjing, covering an area of about 330 square meters. The Bell Tower of Huiwen Academy is the landmark building of Jinling Middle School. The design of the bell tower was adopted by the emblem of Jinling Middle School.

The bell tower of Huiwen College was originally five stories, but it was changed to four stories when it was rebuilt, and it has been preserved to this day. The main body was changed to the second floor, and the original third floor was changed to the attic. The clock is on the top floor, with a height of 1.3m and a width of1.4m. It is the "Bolden Church Clock" cast by American Bell Foundry Company.

The bell tower belongs to the architectural style of American colonial period. The plane is in the shape of "Shen" and is symmetrical as a whole. The wall is blue brick, and the foot of the wall and the eaves have fine decorative lines. Each floor has orange decorative lines extending from the upper edge of the window and horizontally surrounding the wall. Doors and windows are semi-arched wooden structures, stairs are made of wood, and the interior is covered with wooden floors. The roof has four slopes, paved with cement square bricks, and the east and west rooms have fireplaces and chimneys. Jinling Middle School Library was built in 1892, and its collection is mainly the old collection of Huiwen Academy. 195 1 year, Huiwen College was nationalized, and its collection increased year by year. By 198 1, the collection of books has reached more than 65438+ 10,000 volumes (including online books of ancient books 10000 volumes), electronic libraries have more than 20,000 volumes, and newspapers 100 kinds. 1999 Library was rated as an excellent middle school library by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. In 2000, the library was rated as a model library for middle schools in Nanjing by Nanjing Education Bureau. In 2003, the library was rated as the first-class library of ordinary middle schools in Jiangsu Province by the Education Department of Jiangsu Province.

The library is divided into the front building and the back building. The architectural style of the former building in the Republic of China is teachers' and students' stacks, teachers' stacks and book lending offices, while the latter building is a reading room for students' periodicals, teachers' periodicals and reference books and ancient books.
