Zhao Wei was born in Yang Shan, Chuzhou (now Chuzhou District, Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province) in the first year of Xian Zongyuan (806). When I was young, I traveled around, tried to be an official for seven years, stayed in Chang' an for many years, went in and out of the giants, and made a name for myself.
