Tian Zhiweng's The Legacy of Taikoo in the Southern Song Dynasty is the earliest ancient book with guqin style in China. At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Yuan Junzhe compiled The Complete Works of Taiyin based on The Legacy of Taiyin. There are 38 different piano styles in the past dynasties. By the Ming Dynasty, there were more than 40 kinds of pianos recorded in Feng Xuan Xuanpin, Wenhuitang Piano Score and Authentic Ancient Sound. There were more than 50 kinds of Qin scores in Wuzhizhai in the early Qing Dynasty. Contemporary piano makers also have many new styles.
Among the ancient guqin, Zhong Ni style is the most common, and there are Fuxi style, Julian style, banana leaf style, sunset style, phoenix style, Shi Kuang style, Shennong style, brainwave style, ringing spring style, Ziforehead style, Liezi style, He Mingqiu style and Xuanhe style. The main difference is that the lines of forehead, neck, waist and tail are different in shape.
