Jiaxing Zicheng is the seat of Jiaxing House and the former site of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Palace.
The name originated from Zicheng, Jiaxing, and was built in Wu Huanglong of the Three Kingdoms for three years (23 1), with a history of more than 700 years. The circumference of Zicheng is two miles and ten paces, the height is one foot and two feet, and it covers an area of 75,000 square meters. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, due to the construction of Luocheng outside Zicheng, the original city was renamed Zicheng (in addition, Zicheng was surrounded by catalpa trees, formerly called Zicheng, and later changed to Zicheng).
Suburban structure
From the Three Kingdoms to the Qing Dynasty, Zicheng was the seat of Jiaxing (Xiuzhou) government or military and political affairs. According to Guangxu's Records of Jiaxing, in the Yuan Dynasty, there was Li Wei at the main entrance of the city wall, and in the Song Dynasty, there were buildings such as the Temple of the King and the Arrow Tower. Zicheng Diaolou was rebuilt in the 34th year of Guangxu (1908). It is a three-story building with brick and wood structure, with two eaves resting on the top of the mountain, a gaudy roof, four small ridges covered with water, a faucet carved in the corner and cornices in the cloister, which is very special in ancient China. There is an arrow stack in the east of the city, which has been well preserved so far.
Existing Zicheng
The existing Zicheng and Qiaolou are rebuilt in 1990, with a length of about 100 meters. The city wall is of masonry structure, and there are piles on it, and the gate is placed under it. The door is made of wood and guarded by stone lions. Looking into the city, you can see the scenery of lotus town and the misty rain of South Lake.
Laozicheng
In the old days, there was a ribbon bridge outside the city of Swallow, and there were catalpa trees along the river, which had beautiful scenery. Liu Yuxi in the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Xian, Shen Kuo and Lao Lv Meng in the Song Dynasty all have well-known works. Monroe's poem "Piyun Pavilion" says: "The corner of the city looks at the sea, and the spring breeze is warm. Clouds and smoke are broken in the vast river and there are hundreds of towers. "
During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Zicheng built the Royal Palace. 1in June, 860, Chen Bingwen, Wang Ting and Chen Kunshu, a loyal soldier of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Li Xiucheng, captured Jiaxing. In the second year, Chen Bingwen built a large-scale project, and built the Qijin Wang Tingfu here. By 1864, Jiaxing had not been completed when it was captured by Pan and Cheng Xueqi, which shows that its project is huge. In the 1980s, eight murals of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom were discovered in the old residence of Yao family on Zhongshan Road.
