Where have the Khitans gone?

The Khitan people suddenly disappeared from historical records since the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. Relevant experts used DNA technology to identify the Daur people (Fuxin area in Northeast China) and Yunnan A, Mang, and Jiang as descendants of the Khitan people. The "I" here is the self-proclaimed name of the descendants of Khitan.

1. In Yunnan, experts obtained blood samples from "I" with the surnames A, Mang, Jiang and other ethnic groups; from Molidawa Banner in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and several other banners and counties, blood samples were collected from Daur and Ewenki , Mongolian and Han populations. Comparison of the variable regions of mitochondrial DNA extracted using the silicon method from the dental pulp and bone marrow of ancient specimens shows an accurate conclusion: Daur, A, Mang, and Jiang are all descendants of the Khitan.

2. When the Mongols in the Yuan Dynasty established the Mongol Empire across the Eurasian continent, they fought for years and the Khitans who frequently used troops were conquered and dispersed to various places. Some maintained larger ethnic groups, such as Daur. Some ethnic groups survived as ethnic groups, and some were assimilated by the local people. So the Khitans no longer exist in the pure sense. After continuous migration, isolation and integration, most Khitan people integrated with the local people.

3. Khitan, a nation that appeared in Northeast China in the Middle Ages. Since the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Khitan people have been active in the upper reaches of the Liao River. They established a strong local government at the end of the Tang Dynasty. In 907, when the Tang Dynasty fell, they established the Khitan Kingdom, which was later renamed Liao and ruled northern China. At the end of the Liao Dynasty, the Jurchen tribe revolted, and the Liao Empire quickly came to an end. It was destroyed by the Jin Dynasty in 1125, and the rest established the Western Liao Kingdom, which lasted for 93 years.
