Song Dynasty began to appear in Suzhou area during Hongzhi period, developed to Changlai County and Songjiang area near Suzhou during Zhengde period, initially formed during Jiajing period, and distributed to most parts of the country.

1859, gamblers introduced six fonts produced by Shanghai American-Chinese Library to Japan, and instructed Japanese timber mills to use electroplating font production methods. Because this font was introduced to Japan in the Ming Dynasty, it is called "Ming Style". Japan still uses this name.
Modern schools mainly use Songti printing. Later, according to the bold and unconstrained western fonts and Italian style, it was printed into Chinese. Song style, bold style, Song style and regular script have become the four main fonts in Chinese character printing. "Song Style" is the general name of fonts, and many fonts belong to this category.
