What is Qian Zhongshu who studies hard and reads hard?

Qian Zhongshu, whose word is silent and whose name is Huai Ju, once used the name Shu Jun, is a famous scholar, writer and poet in China. Qian Zhongshu was born in a scholarly family, and was named "Zhongshu" because he grasped books at the age of one. My uncle has been teaching him to read since he was a child. When he was seven or eight years old, he could gobble up a series of novels collected at home or rented from bookstores. When I was fourteen, I borrowed a lot of popular literature magazines, such as Novel World, Red Rose and Violet, and devoted myself to browsing.

Regarding Qian Zhongshu's diligence, a friend recalled that every time they entered the thread-bound library, they almost met Qian Zhongshu. It is said that every book he intensively reads is reviewed repeatedly, and you won't find any extra space in the books he has read. The revision of the History of the Song Dynasty, which is now compiled and published, is annotated in the blank space of the History of the Song Dynasty. His wife, Jiang Yang, once said in an article that when Qian Zhongshu wrote "Pipe awl", she checked his notebook, and it took him two days to tidy up several sacks. Although there are only five printed editions of Guanzui Bian, Qian Zhongshu has made a long-term and profound academic accumulation for it. There was no book to read in the May 7th Cadre School in Henan, so he carefully read the dictionary and notebook he took with him over and over again. As long as it is his book, almost none of it is reprinted or reprinted without major or minor changes. The first edition and the second edition of Qin Yilu are supplements, but the length is equal to the original. The revised edition not only increases the analysis and elucidation of China's ancient literary theory, but also absorbs a large number of achievements of new western disciplines and theories, so that this book more than 30 years ago can still stand proudly at the academic forefront of today's era.

Mr. Qian Zhongshu is good at Confucian classics. Many people think that he is an old gentleman who "dare not read the books of three generations and two Han Dynasties". In fact, this is a big misunderstanding. In his later years, Qian Zhongshu almost stayed at home, but the dynamics of the world ideological circle were no stranger to him. The Times of London's weekly literary supplement, no matter how busy, should read every issue, and read it carefully. So some new ideas and theories can't escape his sight.

Qian Zhongshu's literary achievements are great, including Guan Zui Bian, Qin Yi Lu and Fortress Besieged. Fortress Besieged falls on people who have studied for a period of time. Diligence, only diligence, is the real necessary condition to realize genius. Most of us don't have and can't learn Qian Zhongshu's talent, but we can learn from his extraordinary diligence.
