How did the elephant trunk nebula form?

The elephant trunk nebula is a star-forming region composed of gas and dust clouds, which looks ominous. There are also some humanoid parts in the nebula.

However, the only real monster here is just a young and bright star, which is too far away from the earth to hurt us. The high-energy light emitted by this star is gradually eroding the dust part of the dark comet-like cloud ball above the picture, while the jet and particle wind emitted by this star also push the surrounding gas and dust outward. The IC 1396 complex is nearly 3000 light years away, covering a larger sky than that shown here, and its width is more than 10 full moon.
