After 1949, he began to study modern Chinese vocabulary and grammar, further studied the history of Chinese development in past dynasties, paid attention to some problems in Chinese education, and made great achievements in classical philology.

Literature Records, Language, Literature and History contains more than 90 papers on language, literature and history, which focuses on his unique views on the phonology of ancient Chinese, the nature and phonological basis of Qieyun, discusses the phonological evolution from Qin Zhou to Sui Chen in the past 800 years, and makes textual research and comments on many works on language, literature and history, which is unique.

Literary Collection is his masterpiece. Collected documents, notes, etc. They all put forward many original opinions on ancient sounds, rhymes, rhymes and exegesis books of the previous generation, which are his academic masterpieces. The ancient sound is extensively discussed in the book, involving sound, rhyme and tone. And made a detailed and in-depth study of the phonology below the Han and Wei Dynasties. In phonology, according to Sanskrit materials such as Si Tan Zhang and modern phonetics theory, the traditional terms such as "Yin Tone", "Yang Tone", "Five Tones" and "Zhuan" are given new explanations. This paper comments on the gains and losses of many ancient linguistic works in China with modern linguistic theory, and compiles many valuable historical materials.

Zhou Zumo paid attention to absorbing the research results of predecessors, measured their gains and losses from viewpoints and methods, and further used various materials to reach a deeper level. Besides dialects, we should also pay attention to the study of historical culture and classical literary works of past dynasties.

The book Dialect Collation summarizes the study of dialects. Zhou's works are based on Li Mengchuan's engraving in Song Dynasty, referring to the research results of Dai Zhen, Lu, Liu Taigong, Wang Niansun and others in Qing Dynasty, and after careful comparison, they are reprinted. Mr. Wu Xiaoling also compiled A Mirror of Dialect Collation, which is attached to the back of the book for easy reference. Dialect proofreading refers to 33 kinds of ancient books before Song Dynasty, and all typos in the original books are corrected according to examples.

"Guang Yun School-based" quoted the original jade, the sound and meaning of Hui Lin, the names of all things in seal script, amethyst and other materials, which have never been seen before. In collating, we should pay attention to the mistakes in the original book, correct the vulgar writing or style, and study the sound and meaning of individual cases, which has become an important basis for studying dialects at home and abroad. main work
