Southern History is one of the "Twenty-four History" officially revised by China. Biography, dynastic history, * * * 80 volumes, including ten biographies of characters, which started in the first year of Emperor Wu (420) and ended in the third year (589). Record the history of Song Dynasty, Qi Dynasty, Liang Dynasty and Chen Dynasty 170 years. History of the South and History of the North are a pair of companion pieces, which were jointly compiled by Li Shishi and his son li yanshou. "History of the South" does not adopt chronological style, but combines biographies of the history of the Southern Dynasties to simplify reading. The biographies of fathers, sons, grandsons and grandsons in different dynasties are combined into one book with the family as the unit, which is convenient for us to understand the society of the Southern and Northern Dynasties where the gate system prevailed.
History of the North: A biographical dynastic history, which was compiled by Shu Wei, Beiqi Shu, Zhou Shu and Sui Shu, and recorded the history of the Northern Dynasties. Five volumes of Wei Benji, three volumes of Qi Benji, two volumes of Zhou Benji, two volumes of Sui Benji, eighty-eight volumes of biographies and one hundred volumes of * * *. History of the South and History of the North are a pair of companion pieces, which were jointly compiled by Li Shishi and his son li yanshou.
History of the Old Five Dynasties: Originally named History of the Five Dynasties, it was also called Zhou Shu in Liang, Tang, Jin and Han Dynasties. It is an official history book compiled by Song Taizu's imperial edict and belongs to a dynastic history. Xue Jianxiu, fellow initiates such as Lu Duoxun, Liu Jian, Li Mu and Li Jiuling. The historical materials that can be referenced in the book are quite complete, which are recorded in the Five Dynasties. From 907 AD when Zhu Wen proclaimed himself emperor on behalf of the Tang Dynasty to the establishment of the Northern Song Dynasty in 960 AD, there were five dynasties in the Central Plains: Hou Liang, Later Tang Dynasty, Later Jin Dynasty, Later Han Dynasty and Later Friday Dynasty. Outside the Central Plains, there are ten small countries including Wu, Nantang, wuyue, Chu, Min, Nanhan, Houshu, Nanping and Beihan, and the surrounding areas also include Qidan, Tubo, Bohai and Beihan. This history is recorded in the History of the Old Five Dynasties.
History of the New Five Dynasties: Written by Ouyang Xiu in the Song Dynasty, formerly known as History of the Five Dynasties. Later generations are the history of the Five Dynasties, which is different from that compiled by officials such as Xue, and is called the new history of the Five Dynasties. There are seventy-four volumes in the book, twelve volumes in biographies, forty-five volumes in biographies, three volumes in textual research, eleven volumes in aristocratic families and chronicles, and three volumes in appendices of Siyi. It recorded the history of fifty-three years from the first year of Kaiping in Hou Liang (907) to the seventh year of Xiande in Houzhou (960).
