Re-evaluation of Chen Geng's School-based Introduction in The Story of the Stone by Zhi Yanzhai

Hongyan Zhai's re-evaluation of the Chen Geng School's Story of the Stone is the most perfect and truly preserved of the eleven existing ancient manuscripts of A Dream of Red Mansions. This collection was discovered by Mr. Xu Xingshu in Long Fu Temple in Beijing on 1932, and was bequeathed to yenching university Library, which is now kept in Peking University Library. This edition is a national first-class cultural relic document, which is comparable to the JOE edition (residual edition) discovered and collected by Mr. Hu Shi in 1927. According to 1955 ancient literature books and three kinds of photocopies published by 1965 and 1993 People's Literature Publishing House, the school printed them (and checked them with emphasis according to the original), and also included relevant materials on the original and photocopies.
