So, how did the coffin come from, and what's the meaning?
First, putting people in wood in ancient times had special significance. People cannot be resurrected after death, and everything is empty after death. Many people think that this is an iron law, but in ancient times, everyone had another name for death. They think that after death, everyone will die, the body will die and the spirit will last forever. So how can we make the dead live stronger in another world? The ancients thought of a method that has been used all the time.
According to ancient records, in ancient times, people were thrown into the wild like animals after death, and there was no desire to be buried or not. At that time, everyone had no feelings and no concept of life.
Later, with the gradual evolution of everyone, the feelings gradually became rich and colorful. After seeing their families die, they are left to rot in the wilderness or bitten by wild animals. As a result, weeds spread under the corpse and were covered by branches. It was not until there were words that the Tibetan homophonic "burial" was created according to this situation, that is, hiding the body.
With the change of time, everyone feels that it is not safe to cover the remains with tree technology. Some people dug a hole in the ground and buried the body. This is the origin of funeral custom.
Up to now, there is not a coffin. Gradually, after some people die, their families will put their bodies in a wooden container called a coffin. This kind of pole is made of wood, because in ancient times, there were a lot of wood, so it was very easy to adapt to local conditions. Secondly, flowers and trees sometimes represent longevity.
Putting the dead in wood and imposing the meaning of life on the dead is also called longevity material. The longer the tree age, the better the flowers and trees with larger crown diameter. Putting a dead man in a coffin is to treat him as a tribute to the devil. In ancient times, people thought that people would not die normally, and people died because there were monsters. However, for this invisible monster, the living people have no ability to confront it and can only let it be destroyed. Therefore, using dead bodies to limit yourself is to expect that you can live for a long time.
Knowing the origin of funeral culture, we will find that it is a very cold and selfish personal behavior. As we all know, in the ancient society, the main productive forces were extremely low, the living were very important and needed to be supported more than the dead, so they had to give up the dead to support the living professionally.
Second, the origin of the coffin In view of the origin of the coffin, there is no qualification certificate of historical time at this stage, and there is such a name in folklore:
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were two famous people, one was Pang Juan and the other was Sun Bin. They are studying and training tactics in Sun Bin. After learning well, Pang Juan went out to work as Marshal Wei. After Wang Wei, Sun Bin was welcomed to the State of Wei. Pang Juan, who is jealous, has always disliked Sun Bin and tried to vilify him. So, he accused Sun Bin of adultery with Zhao, and Sun Bin was dug to his knees.
Then he tried to frame Sun Bin further. Just then, Sun Bin pretended to be crazy and fled to the border of Wei and Zhao, and the enemy of Wei came. At this moment, Sun Bin walked into a family and asked them to give themselves to Zhao.
The family thought of a way, so they put Sun Bin in the sleeping cupboard of the bedroom bed. As a dead man, they still buckle the outer cover on it and tie it with thin hemp rope. In this way, the people around him sent Sun Bin out of Wei and escaped Wei Bing's pursuit.
Later, this method of hanging sleeping cabinets and tying thin hemp ropes was adopted in funeral customs. Everyone called this whole process funeral. Because of the homonym of "edge" and "mourning", everyone is delusional. Naturally, you can't take the qualification examination at this stage.
Literally, a coffin means to cover a corpse. According to the ancient people's understanding of death, it is not a real decline when people go to another world. Therefore, the renovation of tombs is very careful, and all kinds of funerals are buried with them. The choice of coffin is even more important. Putting the body in wood, in order to get better luck, everyone expects officials to make a fortune, so they name the coffin with the word "official wealth disyllabic".
Third, why nail the coffin board after the body enters the coffin? After death, some people are on the same day, some are on the second day, and some are on the third day. Family members will put the body in the coffin, and then nail seven steel nails on the coffin board, also known as descendants nails. It is said that it can make future generations prosper, and when nailing, the family will ask the deceased to hide the nail together. Then sprinkle five-color grains on the bare shirt, and burn paper money and sob every day until the funeral.
Take the funeral cover as an example, there are steel nails when nailing. You can't hit too hard, but your family should nail it. This nail will naturally leave half, indicating that it will continue to prosper in the future. It means not to do things too well. Doing things well is not good for future generations, so we should keep a sense of proportion.
In fact, in ancient times, the coffin was not nailed, and the bottom of the coffin and the lid were tied together with a pimp. Three times in the horizontal direction and two times in the vertical direction. This is because the horizontal joinery board is long and the vertical joinery board is short, so the later idiom is called three long and two short.
Nailing coffins is not only a custom, but also a metaphor of accidents. The most important thing at that time was to have a sealing effect. Putting the dead in the coffin, a person is afraid of the deterioration of the body, afraid of being hurt by the external natural environment after death, and suddenly causing misfortune and running out of the coffin. Second, I am afraid that the decomposition of the remains will release all kinds of harmful vapors, which will endanger the living.
Naturally, nailing coffins is also to better prevent the living from disturbing the dead. In ancient times, some dead people usually had rich funerary objects. In order to better avoid the theft of grave robbers, the coffin was nailed tightly, which can not only protect the dead, but also maintain the funerary objects inside. This is the undoubted origin of the son in the coffin.
