The Buddha taught the Dharma for forty-nine years, and thousands of Buddhist scriptures were distributed.
We often hear: the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" that eliminates karma; the "Diamond Sutra" that opens wisdom; "The Huayan Sutra" is the "King of Sutras"; "The Lotus Sutra of Wonderful Dharma" ” is the true heart of the Buddha; the Surangama Sutra is the most important scripture of Buddhism; when the Buddha’s Dharma disappears, the Surangama Sutra will be destroyed first; the Infinite Life Sutra is the most important sutra for saving sentient beings in the end of the Dharma; when the Buddha’s Dharma disappears, , the "Infinite Life Sutra" was finally destroyed and remained in the world for another hundred years.
"All laws are equal, and there is no superiority or inferiority."
Buddhism is inherently one-sided. Due to differences in the degree and nature of the recipients, as well as differences in living eras and living environments, the understanding of Buddhism also varies from person to person and from time to time. Different sects have different teachings and judgments, and thus practice according to different major classics.
Zen Buddhism believes that the Diamond Sutra is the main classic.
Pure Land Sect believes that "Infinite Life Sutra" is the main classic.
The Consciousness-only Sect (Yoga Sect, Dharma-Xiang Sect) believes that "The Interpretation of the Deep Tantric Sutra" is the main classic.
The Tiantai Sect believes that the Lotus Sutra is the main classic.
The Huayan Sect (Xianshou Sect) believes that the Huayan Sutra of Dafang Guangfo is the main classic.
The Three Commentaries (Kong Sect and Faxing Sect) believe that "Middle Commentary" is the main classic.
The Vinaya Sect (Nanshan Sect) believes that "Si Fen Ryu" is the main classic.
The Chengshi Sect (The Hinayana Kong Sect) believes that "Chengshi Lun" is the main classic.
The Kushe sect (the Hinayana sect) believes that the Kushe sect is the main classic.
So, which Buddhist scripture is the most important?
Master Yuanying said: "Buddhism requires personal experience, and the important thing is to understand. You must be asking this, so I have to answer the "Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra". This sutra is a Mahayana sutra, and the Tathagata develops the Mahayana heart. The author said, "This is the essence of most of the six hundred volumes of Prajna. Therefore, I have never heard of it before, and I have no faith in it. Although it is about 260 times, its meaning is very rich." The secret message is collected in full; it is the essence of a great collection of sacred teachings. It is actually a guide to becoming a Buddha and a magic weapon for benefiting all living beings."
Master Yuanying's teachings. Let’s put aside sectarian differences to talk about the importance of Buddhist scriptures. However, all Buddhist scriptures are "words and forms". Let's go back to the words of Master Yuanying: "Buddha's teachings need to be experienced personally, and the most important thing is to understand." The Dharma spoken by the Buddha is a boat crossing the river.
After crossing the river, why do we need a boat?
