Will the world be fine? In Liang Shuming's Oral Notes in His Later Years, Liang Shuming exposed two scandals about antiques by Kang Youwei. One is that when Kang Youwei visited Wolong Temple in Xi, Shaanxi, he tried to steal some precious ancient Buddhist scriptures from the temple with his mule cart.

After being found and recovered. On another occasion, Kang Youwei "borrowed" a very expensive calligraphy and painting from banker Yu Fancheng, trying to keep it for himself. Yu Fancheng begged many times and had to send many people to Kang's home to get it back.
