Shao Songnian, (December 30, 1848 to 1924, 1923 (lunar calendar)) was born in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. . In the ninth year of Tongzhi, he was appointed Secretary of the Cabinet; in the ninth year of Guangxu, he was awarded the fifth Jinshi (1883) and was awarded the title of editor of the Hanlin Academy; in the seventeenth year of Guangxu, he was appointed academic administrator of Henan. His brushwork was elegant and he was favored by people at the time. .
