Why is Taoism in Sichuan more independent than Taoism in other places?

Because Sichuan is an important birthplace of Taoism in China. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Ling, a native of Pei Guofeng and said to be the eighth grandson of Sean, the founding strategist of the Western Han Dynasty, abandoned his official position and went to Hemingshan in Dayi to study the Ghost Classic. This may be because there are many similarities between Sichuan and fairyland on earth, such as dense fog, suitable climate and being far away from noise. Coupled with the proximity to Tibetan areas and Yunnan-Guizhou, it can also be influenced by South Asia and Indo-China Peninsula, where religious civilization is developed, making Sichuan's religious longevity stronger.

Sichuan has a long religious history and rich religious diversity, which is very rare in the central and western provinces. Even today, Buddhist temples in Sichuan are still flourishing. Sichuan Basin is composed of Chengdu Plain, hills in the middle and parallel canyons in the east of Sichuan, all of which are low-altitude areas suitable for human settlement. Sichuan's prosperity in the agricultural era and its sudden fame in the west now all benefit from these low-altitude terrain. But this is by no means the whole of Sichuan.
