Where is Leitan?

Leitan is a famous scenic spot in Liuzhou.

Leitan is located in Xiapu, the eastern suburb of the city. There are two fishing platforms: one is in Leitan, Datang Village, about 3 kilometers away from the city, which is called Leitan Fishing Platform; the other is about 5.5 kilometers away from the city. The Kanli Village Zhenshan is called Zhenshan Diaotai. In May 1984, both stations were listed as key cultural relics protection units in the city.

Leitan is located on the north bank of the bend of Yuan River. The hills run from north to south and end at the river, forming a rock wall. It is a disc-shaped rock extending flatly in the river. It is covered with moss marks and the stone surface is flat, just right for fishing. Under the stone, where the Yuan River flows, a deep pool is formed. The water is as clear and blue as emerald, so it is called Leitan. On the northwest side of the stone, there is an ancient temple, Bao'an, and numerous ancient trees. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Yang Huokun, the county magistrate, ordered masons to carve the three characters Diaoyutai on the rock wall behind the stone. According to the "Yichun County Chronicle" of the Republic of China: There are also stone carvings engraved on the stone wall on the side of the road above Leitan, which cannot be recognised. Only the Jiatai and Kaixi year titles and the county's Zeng Yanshu Chen Rixiu's numbers can be discerned. There is also an old legend about a dragon lurking here. There are cliffs and stone crevices on it, and dragon scales are imprinted on the moss. There was a temple beside the pond, which is now Duobao Temple. The nearby rocks are also called Diaoyutai, and the gloomy bamboo trees are called a scenic spot. Because it is located on the bank of Yuan River, the shape of the mountain is so close to the river that it absorbs half of the green river. The river and sky here are vast and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Chen Tingmei, the magistrate during the Qianlong period, wrote in his poem "Misty Rain at Diaoyutai": A wisp of egrets flies across the river sky, and the middle stream looks like a fishing rock. There is nothing left to do in front of me, and I have fun chatting with silk threads on the pole. The poet occasionally stays by the river to get drunk, and the fisherman returns home in time for the sunset. Ten canvases come at dusk, the misty rain in Tongjiang River looks like this.

Zhenshan, also known as Yanshan, is located on the south side of the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway and by the Nanhe River. On the cliff, there is an inscription "Zhenshanyan Ji" written by Lu Zhao, the champion of the Tang Dynasty (see the "Yi Wen" volume). Although it is many years old, there are still more than 80 characters that can be read. On the bank of the small river at the foot of the mountain (i.e. Nanhe), there are two rocks extending into the river in the shape of a boat. There is a stone chamber behind the two stones, about 30 square meters, called the cave, also known as Yandong. The stream in front of the stone was originally several meters deep, but is now silted up. Peng Gouyun of the Tang Dynasty once fished on the boat-shaped stone, so it was called Zhengjun Diaoyutai, also known as Zhenshan Diaoyutai.
