Clever words are nice to listen to and make people listen. Listen to them, be poisoned, be trapped and not know it. Such clever words will disturb the formal morality most. "If you can't bear it, you will make great plans." There are two meanings. One is that people should be patient and be patient and tolerant in everything. A little thing can't be tolerated, and a temper will spoil the big thing. Many major failures are often caused by small places. One meaning is that you should be patient, tough and decisive. Sometimes when you encounter something, you have to make a decision at once. Only patience can lead to success. Otherwise, if we don't do it quickly, it will be very troublesome and a little unbearable in the future. This "forbearance" can be explained from both sides.
Together, these two sentences mean: if an idea and a speech are considered trivial, it doesn't matter, and they often miss great events because of excessive compassion and kindness. We can see from Confucius' own behavior that when he was a scout in Shandong, although he only worked for three months, the first thing he did when he came to power was to kill Shao Zhengmao, just because he made wrong remarks and argued to settle things. Now there are a group of anti-Confucius people who say that Confucius killed Shao Zhengmao because he was selfish, because Shao Zhengmao was better at thinking and learning, and there were more students than him. He was jealous and killed Shao Zhengmao. These arguments seem interesting at first glance. In fact, Shao Zhengmao is good at talking, and Confucius students often go to listen to him. At that time, many people were tempted by him, so it meant that Confucius killed Shao Zhengmao for revenge. We should pay attention to this. People who write crooked articles all over the world are very powerful, charming and inflammatory. And decent articles are not attractive, and the good things written in the articles are not attractive; But it's strange that those crooked people can't write anything decent. Those who write inflammatory articles are all people like Shao Zhengmao, which may not be tenable, but his articles will inspire social atmosphere and even affect the whole society. Therefore, people's speeches and articles, without basic moral cultivation, will become rhetoric and chaos. For this kind of thing, Confucius believes that it must be handled, otherwise it will become a connivance, that is, "if you can't bear it, you will make great plans."
We have made these two explanations of "small forbearance and great harm", which can be used separately: when doing things, we can use the word "forbearance" as "decision"; When dealing with people, "forbearance" should be used in the sense of "patience" and "tolerance".
