Hedong, Hexi, Henan, Hebei, Hanoi and beyond the river, what do they mean in ancient Chinese?

hello

In ancient Chinese, the Yellow River was called a river. According to its general location, it is divided into Hanoi in the north and Hanoi in the south and west.

Hejian, called Yingzhou in ancient times, is located in the hinterland of Jizhong Plain, which is under the jurisdiction of Cangzhou City in present-day Hebei Province.

Hedong refers to Shanxi. Because the Yellow River flows through the southwest of Shanxi Province and Shanxi is east of the Yellow River, this place was called Hedong in ancient times.

Hexi generally refers to the land west of the Yellow River, which means that it has changed in ancient times.

1. The Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period refers to the area west of the south section of the Yellow River between Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, about in Hancheng, Heyang and Dali of Shaanxi Province.

2. During the Han and Tang Dynasties, it mostly refers to the area west of the Yellow River in Gansu and Qinghai provinces.

3. Hexi now refers to Wuwei (formerly known as Liangzhou), Zhangye (Ganzhou), Jinchang, Jiuquan (Suzhou) and Jiayuguan in Gansu Province, that is, the five cities of Hexi.

Hebei —— ① In the Tang Dynasty, there was Hebei Road, which ruled Weizhou (present-day northeast) and governed the area north of the ancient Yellow River. (2) In the Song Dynasty, Hebei Road ruled Daming House (now Daming East). Xining is divided into Hebei East Road and Hebei West Road. East Road governs Daming Mansion, and West Road governs Calm Mansion (now Zhengding). Jindong Road was changed to Hejian House (now Hejian). ⑧ 192s, the Kuomintang beer house was changed to Zhili province.

Henan-① Henan land, Qin and Han dynasties refers to the south of the Yellow River in Hetao, Inner Mongolia. (2) During the Warring States Period, Zhou Luoyi was called Henan and Han was called Henan County. Today Han has Henan County, namely Sanchuan County of Qin Dynasty, which governs Luoyang. There was Henan County in Yuzhou in Sui Dynasty, and Henan Province in Luozhou in Tang Dynasty, and its jurisdiction was much smaller than that in Henan County. Yuan is the Tao and Ming is the government. (4) In the Tang Dynasty, there was Henan Road, which was a large administrative region, and governed the vast areas south of the river and north of the Huaihe River, and governed Bianzhou (now Kaifeng). At the beginning of Kaiyuan, Gyeonggi was separated from Henan Province. After the middle Tang Dynasty, there were envoys from Henan Province.
