1. Fold the printed brochure in half. A fold is called a set. A book can be divided into many sets. Here I fold five A4 sheets into a set, and the thickness is appropriate. I can try to fold different papers into a set according to different papers. As shown in the figure below:
2. Punch six small holes evenly on each hinge to facilitate needle threading. By the way, you also need to fold two "butterfly pages", also called "lining pages". I use thicker paper, which is stronger and punched. As shown in the figure below:
3. Thread from the butterfly page at the bottom. As shown in the figure, leave a lasso. When tying the next one, the needle and thread need to pass through this lasso. Leave a rope at last. As shown in the figure below:
4. Bind the next one like a thread as shown in the figure. Tighten the rope and tie a knot at the end, so that the two origami sheets are tied tightly. As shown in the figure below:
5. After knotting, put it into the third set and thread it as before, but after passing through the hole, it must pass through the lock thread between the two sets below, and it is in the back hole, as shown in the following figure.
6. After each set is tied, after the last thread passes through, it passes through the seam between the two sets below, and then it is knotted, and then it passes through the seam of the next set, and then it is ok. If the book is thick, you can prick it a few times. As shown in the figure below:
7. After binding, first, as shown in the figure below, apply white glue, gauze, and then apply the backing paper with the same size as gauze. When the glue dries, you can trim the edges of the book neatly with a wallpaper knife. As shown in the figure below:
8. Next, prepare cardboard and kraft paper, and prepare hard book covers. If possible, you can also make a book cover out of cloth and leather. You can use your imagination to make the style you like, provided it is durable. As shown in the figure below:
9. Apply white glue and stick the book cover and cardboard firmly. Stick the front and back of the butterfly page firmly with the book cover, and you're done. The cover of a book is a place where you can use your imagination. Use your head and make your own style.
Butterfly Mosaic: Butterfly Mosaic in existing ancient books can only be regarded as a special form of binding and printing. I don't know when it appeared, and I can't tell when it disappeared. This form did exist in the Qing Dynasty Neifu block printing.
Recently, the author found several books when sorting out the engraving of Neifu, such as Wuyingtang in the 17th year of Qing Qianlong, Twenty-six volumes of General Plan for Pacifying Erjinchuan, Qing Palace Collection published by Wuyingtang in Jiaqing, and imperial academy Collection published by imperial academy in the 16th year of Daoguang. Their binding and engraving forms have not been mentioned by predecessors, nor have they been recorded in relevant bibliographies.
