Calligraphy is mainly based on Fang Bi, with a round pen and characters in the palace, radiating all around. The lines are changeable and seem irregular, and the writing is "from the heart" but never "not beyond the moment".
Famous artists of all ages admired this monument. In Guang Yi and Zhou Shuang, Qing Kang Youwei listed Zhang Menglong's Monument as a masterpiece, and called Zhang Menglong as a gift, and everything was beautiful and good, and it was a worship of the noble spirit, with exquisite structure and endless changes. Yang Shoujing's Xue Gui Yan said that "calligraphy is chic and ancient, and the odd and the right are in harmony, so it is higher than the six generations of Tang people". Shen's "Harilou Miscellany" said that "the risk is steep, and those who have bells and beams are selected, and the final picture is not dyed, which is different from the North Monument. "The mottled stone flowers formed by natural polishing add a bit of subtlety and mystery to Zhang Menglong's monument.
Since the Qing Dynasty, many people, such as Zhao, Zhou and Yang, have benefited from the study of this monument, which proves that Kang's admiration is not superficial.
