Why is milk cold?

Because the classic of Chinese medicine "Bieling" says that milk is "slightly cold, which can replenish deficiency, quench thirst and reduce qi". The milk contained in "Qianjin Dietotherapy" is sweet in taste and slightly cold in nature. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, milk belongs to cold food.

But in some medical works, it is considered that milk is flat. In short, its indifference is not great. Milk is nutritious and contains no dietary fiber. More than 98% of the nutrients in milk are absorbed and utilized by human body. As a kind of food, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, whether milk can be drunk for a long time or in large quantities depends on physical fitness.

The nature of food is only a reference. For special people, such as people with weak spleen and stomach, it may be instructive in diet, but for healthy ordinary people, there is no need to be too bound by this. The diet should be diversified, but don't eat more of each food.

cold drink and snack

From the color point of view, green plants are close to the ground and absorb the water on the ground, so they are cold, such as mung beans and vegetables. Plants with reddish colors, such as pepper, pepper, jujube and pomegranate, grow near the ground, but the fruit can absorb more sunlight, so it is hot.

From the taste point of view, sweet and spicy foods, such as garlic and pomegranate, are hot because they spend a long time in the sun. And those foods that taste bitter and sour are mostly cold, such as bitter gourd, bitter vegetable, taro, plum, papaya and so on.

From the growth environment, aquatic plants are cold, such as kelp and laver. And some foods that grow on land, such as peanuts, potatoes, yam, ginger and so on. They are all hot because they are buried in the soil for a long time, and the plants are drought-resistant and have less water content.

From the geographical location of growth, foods with shadows facing north absorb heavy moisture and rarely see sunlight, so they are cold, such as mushrooms and fungus. Some foods that grow in the sky, or foods in the southeast, such as sunflowers and chestnuts, are hot because they receive enough light and heat.

Hot and cold food is also related to the growing season. Foods grown in winter are cold because of the severe cold, such as Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, white radish and so on. Foods that grow in summer receive a lot of rain, so they are cold, such as watermelon, cucumber, pear and grapefruit.
