The Monkey King heard her voice, discovered her true colors and defeated her. This story tells us that ears are important, but if you can't tell the difference between true and false voices, you will be deceived.
The third story is about the nose. Tang Priest and his disciples met a monster on the road. This monster can become anyone or anything. He turned into an old monk and lured the Tang Priest to fall for it. Pig Bajie smelled him, discovered his true colors and defeated him. This story tells us that although the nose is important, if you can't tell the good smell from the bad, you will be cheated.
In a word, teeth, ears and nose all play an important role in The Journey to the West. They remind us to control our desires and distinguish between true and false sounds and good or bad smells.
