What books should I read to understand the history of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period?

A historical record is definitely not enough. Spring and Autumn Annals, Zuo Zhuan, Ram Zhuan, Gu Liang Zhuan, Biography of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Policy, Mandarin, Historical Records and Capitalism as a Mirror are all very good.

Among them, Chunqiu, Warring States Policy, Zuo Zhuan and Zi Tong Zhi Jian are worth recommending.

The contents of Warring States Policy and Zuo Zhuan are relatively comprehensive, basically giving you a three-dimensional view and more information. Spring and Autumn Annals began in the Spring and Autumn Annals, and Zi Tongzhi Jian began in three schools.

Be careful of the history of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. It's an ancient novel, not an official history.
