Gurutangka
Tibet13rd century
Cotton mineral painting
40 cm long and 3 1 cm wide.
This Thangka mainly depicts a guru whose specific identity is unknown. He should be a master of early Tibetan Buddhism. The guru sat in a staggered position, with his body slightly turned to the right, his head slightly raised and facing the right. The top of the head is smooth, revealing black hair roots. His face is round, his skin is white, his forehead is wide, his eyes are big, his nose is high, his lips are slightly pursed, and his mouth is smiling, which vividly depicts a solemn, sacred, compassionate and wise master image. The figure is round and solid, with a yellow monk's ridge on the upper body, a red cassock showing the right shoulder outside, a khaki monk's skirt under it, and a light yellow coat covered with big flowers. Clothing lines are expressed by lines, which are concise and clear. Clothes are of different colors, each with its own merits, harmonious and elegant. Put your hand on your chest and stamp it. Holding a string of white prayer beads in both hands symbolizes Master's profound meditation. The face, arms and feet are exposed, revealing fair skin, and the hands and soles are painted red, which highlights the solemnity and beauty of the master method. The red head light and green halo adorn the whole body, further demonstrating the master's cultivation and the boundless magic like the Buddha.
There are two solemn shrines behind the guru, which show the dignity of the guru's position. There is a colorful halo on the upper part of the inner niche, and the ribbon of two birds stands on the shoulder niche column, which is a typical style of early Pala art. The upper part of the outer niche is painted with a symmetrical Capricorn, and the golden winged birds, standing sheep and elephants are symmetrically painted on both sides. Its image form also comes from para art, which was very popular in Tibet in the13-14th century. Under the niche is a square throne of King Kong, on which rows of colorful pearls are painted, criss-crossing, and the heads of two lions and an elephant are symmetrically painted left and right. This is also the most common and typical expression in Para art, and its symbolic significance is extraordinary. The lion symbolizes wisdom and the elephant represents practice. The combination of the two symbolizes the integrity of the wisdom and morality of the Lord, just as the Buddha has two feet. Draw a great achievement in the left and right corners above Thangka, showing that two Indians inherit the Guru, who are the source of Guru teaching method. The whole Thangka has standardized layout, concise composition, prominent theme, fine outline, simple style and good appearance. It is a very rare early Tangka treasure in Tibet.

The holy monk in the legend of the snowy Buddha country
From 13 to 14 th century, appreciation of Milarepa Thangka in Tibetan and Chinese style
Milariba (1040- 1 123) is a famous inheritor of the kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, and is also recognized as a bitter monk by all walks of life in Tibetan areas with remarkable achievements. His life story is widely celebrated in Tibetan areas, and it is a household name. Mirariba was born in Mangyu Gongtang area (now Jilong County, Shigatse area). Originally belonging to the Qiongbo family, my grandfather settled in Gongtang and later renamed Milla family. My ancestors were followers of Ma Ning. He lost his father when he was a child, and he studied Bonism as an adult to avenge his family. Because I felt that I had created a bad karma, I abandoned evil and turned to Buddhism. I studied "dzogchen Teaching Method" with Master Rongton Laga. After being instructed by Master Rongdun, he went to Loza to ask Marba's translator for advice on Buddhism. Seven years later, he learned all the teaching methods of Marba.
Later, he lived in seclusion in a deep mountain cave near Geelong and Nyalam, and devoted himself to practicing the secret spell of Naobami teaching and yoga for 9 years. He finally succeeded and understood all the teaching methods he had learned. Master Millary Ba pays attention to practice and is famous for his penance. Throughout his life, he traveled all over Tibet, collecting disciples and spreading the Dharma. His disciples are Ta Braj like the sun, Reqiongba like the moon, Sebian Riba like the stars, Reqieba and Zhigong Riba. Its missionary way is very unique, and it is often taught by disciples through singing. In the 9th century A.D./KLOC-0, Sangjie Jianzan, a monk, edited this method into "Milariba Songs Collection", which has been sung ever since. This Thangka mainly shows the solemn image of Milarepa's compassion and peace.
To sum up, this Gu Zhuo Thangka painting is simple, calm and heavy in color, showing the artistic characteristics of the Nizang style Thangka painting in the Wei-Zang area from 13 to 14 century. Thangka has a prominent theme and rich content. This paper comprehensively introduces the inheritance, practice and worship of the Kagyu teaching method, which is basically well preserved. It is a rare masterpiece of early Thangka.

Fiona Fang's face is like a bow, his eyes are tight shut and his expression is serious. Dressed in cassock, with bare right shoulder and hands tied to his chest. Sit with your legs tied, and cover the lotus seat and the four-legged throne. At the top of the picture, the Buddha with infinite longevity is painted, which was passed down by the founder. All the statues are different and neatly arranged. The solemn face and symmetrical body of the whole Thangka master are the characteristics of Pala art, and multi-layered triangular hair crowns are also very common in Pala art, which shows the artistic charm of Thangka in Pani style around13rd century, and the back of the pagoda is outlined with ink lines.
