The influence of Long Mu's esoteric ophthalmology theory on later generations

In On Long Mu, the theory of five rounds has been further improved, which has played an effective guiding role in the treatment of ophthalmology in traditional Chinese medicine, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of external eye diseases. Five rounds were first published in Dragon Tree Theory, and its relatively perfect content was first published in Benson Liu's Song of Eye Theory. Dragon Tree Theory transcribed the above content and further developed it, which preserved this basic theory of Chinese ophthalmology.

The Classification Method of 72 Symptoms of Internal and External Diseases in Ophthalmology of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Long Mu Lun laid the basic principles for the classification and naming of ophthalmology of traditional Chinese medicine, and provided a writing method for later ophthalmic works. For example, the prescription of effective treatment by world famous doctors, the integration of ancient and modern medicine, the golden mirror of medical records, the criteria of syndrome differentiation and treatment, Hai Yin Jingwei, and Diagnosing Diseases with Cold, etc. Most of the names of eye diseases in Long Mu's Lun were used and supplemented on the basis of 72 syndromes.

As the first surgical work in ophthalmology of traditional Chinese medicine, On Long Mu accounts for 57% of 72 kinds of operable diseases. Among the listed 16 kinds of cataracts, there are 14 kinds of golden needle cataracts, and 27 kinds of external eye diseases are suitable for sickle washing, hook cutting, scalding and moxibustion. The book lists 16 surgical contraindications. Perioperative syndrome differentiation and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine covers almost all surgical diseases, which is a valuable asset for ophthalmology teachers and students in Chinese medicine colleges.
