According to the current excavation situation, the eight pits are obviously different. Pits with different ages and horizons, such as Pit 6 and Pit 7, obviously broke this relationship, that is, Pit 6 broke Pit 7, indicating that Pit 6 appeared later than Pit 7; There are also pits with different shapes, features and sizes. For example, the areas of pits 5 and 6 are relatively small, not exceeding 5 square meters, and the depth is about 1 meter. The remaining six pits are all over 8 square meters with a depth of about 1.6 meters, and some even reach 2 meters.

A total of 729 objects and specimens were unearthed in No.3 pit, including 478 relatively complete relics (groups), mainly including bronzes, jade, ivory, gold and seashells. For example, the bronze statue of kneeling is a combination of the bronze statue in the upper part and the portrait in the lower part. Another example is the bronze altar portrait, sacred tree jade cong and other artifacts, all of which are unprecedented new discoveries.

Bronze mask of pit three
There are 79 complete artifacts unearthed in No.4 pit, including jade, bronze, ivory and pottery. For example, the bronze man with three heads turned to kneel is the same size and shape, as if he were a bronze man. His portrait is lifelike, kneeling, slightly leaning to the left, his head slightly lifting his chin and twisting it to the right, his hands half folded horizontally in front of his body, his knees touching the ground, his feet touching the ground, and his forefoot raised. These three portraits are new discoveries in Sanxingdui archaeology in terms of modeling and ornamentation.
