It is roughly estimated that by the end of Qing Dynasty, there were more than 3,000 kinds of China's note novels. This is a huge cultural heritage, and it is difficult for ordinary readers to read it all. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out some work to get rid of the false and retain the true, and to get rid of the rough and the fine. The Notebook Grand View published by Shanghai Progressive Publishing House has taken the first step. There are 220 kinds of books in this series, most of which are masterpieces. At that time, it was considered as a convenient and affordable series with good social response. However, there are also some problems, such as the content is inevitably complicated, the style is not uniform enough, some fake books are mixed, and the content is repeated. The most prominent problem is that books are not well sorted, punctuated and collated. Some books have broken sentences, others have not, and there are errors in broken sentences and words, which brings inconvenience to readers. After liberation, our society and some other publishing houses have also published some note novels, the quality of which has been greatly improved, but the publishing time is long (more than 40 years before and after), and it is difficult for readers to match. Therefore, it is necessary to use the existing academic achievements to compile a new collection of notes and novels of past dynasties.
The newly compiled note novels of past dynasties must be representative, practical, accurate, elegant, economical and convenient. Since then, this series * * * has collected about 200 kinds of note novels, which started in the Han and Wei Dynasties (occasionally collected or thought to belong to works before the Qin and Han Dynasties) and ended in the late Qing Dynasty, and were published in batches according to the notes of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, the notes of the Tang and Five Dynasties, the notes of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the notes of the Ming Dynasty and the notes of the Qing Dynasty. From the content point of view, the collection of note novels mainly takes notes and people. However, in the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, there were not many note novels left, and both rare books and unofficial history should be collected as much as possible. After the Tang and Song Dynasties, there were more and more legendary novels, some famous books were easier to buy, and there were generally fewer collections. In addition, books such as "Tai Ping Guang Ji" are too big, collecting and extracting old articles and novels with annotations, with repetitive contents, and do not accept purely academic annotations.
The various note novels included in this series are arranged in the order of the author's life years. Before each note novel, the proofreader should write a "proofreading note", which briefly introduces the author's life, the content, significance and version of the book. Each note novel is based on a relatively complete and good version, collated with other versions, and checked with related history books, note sets and series. Words are good and obedient, and they never leave school. The original proofreading notes in the original edition should be kept if they were written by people before the Republic of China. Closer and modern school notes are generally deleted. For valuable proofreading, the text should be revised as appropriate. Generally, all kinds of note novels collected only include the original full text, without supplement. Take other people's achievements as a supplement and point them out in proofreading notes to show that they dare not steal beauty.
