Zhang, born in Yizhou (Yishui County, Hebei Province) in the Jin Dynasty, was born and died in an unknown year. Liu was a physician later than the same period and the founder of Yi School.
Zhang Yisheng has a lot of works, including Origin of Medicine, Prescription for Deficiency of Cold and Heat in Zang-fu Specimens, Jiegu Jiazhen, Pearl Capsule and so on. According to legend, Prescription Notes has 30 volumes, but it has long since disappeared.
Among Zhang's works, Yiyuan and Prescription for Deficiency of Cold and Heat in Zang-fu Specimens best reflect his academic views. Inspired by the theory of zang-fu organs in Neijing and combined with his decades of clinical experience, Zhang systematically summarized the theory that the pathogenesis of zang-fu organs is based on cold and heat.

Immediately after taking the pulse, it was accurately diagnosed that it was caused by taking typhoid fever by mistake, and it was pointed out that it was caused by Liu taking medicine by mistake. After listening to this, Liu nodded and said yes, which was a great service to him, and then he took medicine to cure him according to Element's opinion.
Since then, Zhang's reputation in the medical field has been greatly improved. Zhang is good at treating typhoid fever and proficient in pharmacology. He often said, "luck is uneven, and ancient prescriptions and new diseases are incompatible." Therefore, he is good at innovation and unique in treatment.
