World Memory Documentary Heritage is an extension of the World Cultural Heritage Protection Project, focusing on documentary records, including precious documents, manuscripts, oral historical records and rare books in any media preserved by cultural institutions such as museums, archives and libraries.

Therefore, UNESCO launched the World Memory Program to prevent the loss of collective memory, and called for the protection of valuable cultural heritage and library documents, so that their values can be widely spread around the world. The Memory of the World List is divided into three levels: world, region and country, and the declared literature heritage is divided into different levels according to its regional influence.
