Introduction of Jiange Inscription
In the early years of Taikang, Zhang Zai, a writer in the Western Jin Dynasty, went to Sichuan to visit his father and passed by Jiange. Because of its dangerous terrain and unique scenery, he wrote an inscription in Jiange. The inscription first describes the danger of Jiange's situation, and then points out that the survival of the country lies in virtue rather than danger with reference to ancient history. Known as the "standard of articles" by later generations (Zhang Pu's "Zhang Mengyang's Collection of Inscriptions in Jingyang"), Emperor Wu of Jin once sent someone to engrave it in stone.
