What's the first complete drug student status in China?
Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica in the Eastern Han Dynasty is the earliest existing important pharmacological work in China. There are 365 kinds of drugs, which are divided into upper, middle and lower products according to their efficacy, covering the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine and being a great summary of pharmaceutical knowledge and experience before the Han Dynasty. It laid the foundation for the compilation of large-scale backbone in China. It is the earliest precious pharmaceutical literature in China and is regarded as one of the four classics. The newly revised Materia Medica, referred to as Tang Materia Medica for short, is the earliest pharmacopoeia in China, which was published in the fourth year of Tang Dynasty (AD 659) and the earliest publicly promulgated pharmacopoeia in the world, 800 years earlier than the Nuremberg Pharmacopoeia in Europe. On the basis of retaining the original version of Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica, this paper supplements what is not recorded in the ancient books, and revises what is incorrect. It is illustrated with pictures and texts, rich in content and refined in materials, which reflects the brilliant achievements of materia medica in Tang Dynasty and lays the foundation for the compilation of large-scale backbone materia medica in China. These two works were considered as complete classics at that time, and the times were developing. The complete works should be based on the situation at that time, so I personally think that Shennong Herbal Classic is the first complete ancient pharmaceutical book in China.
