Wendan decoction was first published in the Tang dynasty, "What is a good policy for emergency?" Volume 12? "gallbladder meridian" article: "after treating a serious illness, I can't sleep because of fatigue, but also because of a cold", which is a prescription for calming the nerves. Later, Poria cocos was added to expand the indications. For example, "Three Causes and One Disease Prescription" in the Song Dynasty and "Jingyue Quanshu" in the Ming Dynasty all indicated that "qi stagnation produces fluid" and began to become a prescription for treating phlegm. In Qing Dynasty, convenient reading was mainly used to treat "gallbladder deficiency and phlegm disturbance", which officially became the main prescription to treat phlegm turbidity.
After Chen was helpless, he changed the original prescription of Wendan decoction, reduced the amount of ginger, added poria cocos, and later increased jujube, forming Wendan decoction to treat phlegm turbidity today. Among them, warm drugs (Pinellia ternata, dried tangerine peel and ginger), cold drugs (bamboo shavings) and mild drugs (Poria cocos, licorice and jujube) are always compatible with pungent drugs. Combination of cold and heat, efforts to combine, sweet and sour collocation. Pungent but not hot, clear away heat but not cold, eliminate phlegm but not dry, strengthen spleen but not greasy. The whole prescription is calm and harmonious, from the initial prescription of warming gallbladder to the prescription of warming gallbladder, resolving phlegm and clearing gallbladder and fu-organs. The original prescription was used to treat insomnia due to physical weakness, and it was expanded to treat phlegm-turbid syndrome and relieve phlegm-turbid syndrome due to stagnation of wood.
Wendan decoction is commonly used by doctors in past dynasties, and there are four main prescriptions: in the Song Dynasty, Danxing, Acorus calamus and Codonopsis pilosula were named "Ditan decoction", which enhanced the function of benefiting qi, resolving phlegm and reducing turbidity, and cured phlegm stagnation syndrome; In the Ming Dynasty, jujube, Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, Ginseng and Schisandra chinensis were added to the standard of syndrome treatment, named "Shiwei Wendan Decoction", which increased the strength of invigorating qi and nourishing blood, calming the heart and calming the nerves, and treated the endogenous syndromes of guilty conscience, timidity, deficiency of qi and blood, and turbid phlegm. In Qing dynasty, Huanglian Wendan decoction was added to the argument of six causes, which increased the efficacy of clearing heat and specifically treated phlegm-heat disturbance syndrome. In the Qing Dynasty, Artemisia annua, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and Jasper Powder were added to the popular Treatise on Febrile Diseases, and named as "Haoqin Qingdan Decoction", which increased the functions of clearing gallbladder, promoting diuresis, regulating stomach and lowering adverse flow, and specifically treated damp-heat vomiting.
Note: Jasper powder: talc 30g, licorice 10g, indigo naturalis 5g (oral). This prescription can be found in Liu Hejian's "Yellow Emperor Su Wen Xuan Ming Lun Fang", which is mainly used to treat heat and dampness and urination. Liuyisan is used to dredge bladder viscera, clear away heat and eliminate dampness. Add indigo naturalis to purge liver fire. On a hot day, toxic heat attacks, eyes are red and swollen, and urine is Huang Chi. Put this recipe into use and conduct heat downward. This prescription is simple and effective for children with summer dampness, body heat upset, thirst and oliguria, sore throat, oral ulcer and summer heat.
Wendan decoction, "greasy fur" is the last word.
Wendan decoction is a common prescription for treating phlegm-turbid heat syndrome. We should master six main symptoms: greasy fur, slippery pulse, heavy head, full chest, sticky mouth and anorexia. Traditional Chinese medicine treats diseases with exogenous diseases and internal injuries. Internal injuries can be divided into deficiency syndrome and excess syndrome, and excess syndrome is mainly phlegm and blood stasis, so we should pay special attention to phlegm and never ignore it. Among them, greasy fur is the most important and can be hammered out. As the saying goes, "You don't need to know the rest when you see greasy fur." This is turbid phlegm, if you want to use Wendan decoction.
Shen Shi Fuke Wendan Decoction
Wendan decoction has eight herbs, and the first four herbs must be used, namely, bamboo shavings, bitter orange, poria cocos and dried tangerine peel. Bamboo shavings are mainly used for clearing heat and resolving phlegm; Poria cocos and dried tangerine peel strengthen the spleen and eliminate phlegm, and cut off the "phlegm source" as an auxiliary medicine; Fructus Aurantii regulates qi and relieves depression, which is beneficial to resolving phlegm and turbidity and is an adjuvant medicine. Wendan decoction only uses these four herbs as basic drugs.
The last four drugs are cancelled: Pinellia ternata can eliminate dampness and phlegm, but its dryness is not conducive to the main syndrome of "phlegm turbid heat"; Although ginger can resolve phlegm, its pungent temperature is not conducive to the main syndrome of "phlegm turbidity turning into heat"; Roasted grass tastes sweet and jujube tastes greasy, which is not conducive to eliminating phlegm and turbidity, so all four flavors are deleted.
Adding Rhizoma Acori Graminei and Radix Curcumae: Turbidity in the prescription is the easiest to close the orifices. In order to eliminate phlegm, it is necessary to use Acorus tatarinowii, which is familiar with phlegm, to dredge qi and blood stasis, which is very conducive to eliminating phlegm and turbidity, so that phlegm and turbidity will be eliminated.
In this way, Wendan decoction, the main prescription for eliminating phlegm, consists of bamboo shavings, bitter orange, poria cocos, dried tangerine peel, Acorus gramineus and turmeric.
These six drugs must be used, and the dosage is fixed, all of which are 10g.

The key to distinguish phlegm is not color, but quality. Conventionally, yellow phlegm governs heat; It is actually wrong to treat cold with white phlegm. Thick phlegm is white or Huang Dou is hot phlegm, while thin phlegm is white and yellow is cold phlegm. Cold and heat are distinguished by quality. Heat phlegm should be added with prickly heat and concretion; White mustard seed and Pinellia tuber should be added to cold phlegm. This is what we call tangible phlegm, which is expectoration. The lung is a device for storing phlegm, and the sputum seen is tangible or narrow. If stubborn phlegm is greasy with fur, it is called stubborn phlegm. Three stones and seaweed can be added. The three stones are raw keel, raw oyster and clam.
Epilepsy plus sea cucumber intestines and magnets. Sea cucumber sausage is sea cucumber sausage. Take it out, then wash the sand, dry it in the shade and grind it. When drinking Wendan Decoction, use Wendan Decoction to flush sea cucumber rice rolls, 3g each time, which is a very effective drug for treating epilepsy. Schizophrenia, plus Chuanjun, Hu's, and even using raw rhubarb to relieve constipation, the symptoms of schizophrenia can be alleviated, but the drug must be stopped. Long-term use will hurt patients and even cause adverse consequences; Neurasthenia, related to schizophrenia, is two diseases, one is psychosis and the other is neuropathy. Add 30g fried jujube kernel and Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. Neel's syndrome, dizziness caused by hypertension, and hypertension are treated with Rhizoma Alismatis, Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Raphani Semen and Concha Haliotidis; Fructus Trichosanthis and Radix Puerariae are added for coronary heart disease; Radix Aucklandiae and Herba Taraxaci are added for gastropathy; Add Artemisia annua and Bupleurum chinense with low fever, Artemisia annua must be taken late, with15g; ; Menopause syndrome plus Fructus Cnidii and Herba Lycopi; Uremia plus Semen Vaccariae and Herba Leonuri; Gynecological menstruation, adding Caulis Spatholobi and Rhizoma Cyperi; Benign tumor plus Shā rotto Katakuri and Zhebei; To add Hedyotis diffusa and Herba et Gemma Agrimoniae to malignant tumor, 30g Hedyotis diffusa must be used, which is the method of adding Wendan Decoction to 16.
Clinically, whenever you see patients with greasy tongue coating, you think of Wendan Decoction, and then add different main drugs according to 16 different diseases, and add drugs according to the types of diseases. As long as you keep using it, it will definitely have an effect. However, there is a premise that the addition and subtraction of 16 in the treatment of diseases by Wendan decoction are all effective, and it must be greasy with fur. And there is also a key to phlegm and blood stasis. From the treatment of phlegm, I think that there is no blood stasis, the tongue is not purple, and the sublingual collaterals are not swollen. It is also a medicine for removing blood stasis and improving curative effect, which not only removes blood stasis but also eliminates phlegm. There are two kinds of good drugs for removing blood stasis, the most commonly used is salvia miltiorrhiza, 30g salvia miltiorrhiza; Another medicine is leech. In fact, leeches are not toxic, and leeches are bidirectional, which obviously improves the curative effect.

note:
1. The routine treatment of hypertension is mainly to calm the liver and suppress yang, nourishing water and containing wood. In this case, phlegm and blood stasis are intertwined, which damages the heart and collaterals. If the common methods are not correct, it will not work. Attention should be paid to the syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis damaging collaterals in hypertension, and Wendan recipe is an effective prescription.
2. Remove greasy moss first, and add three stones to the old seal of Uncaria rhynchophylla to remove greasy moss. Hawthorn is an important auxiliary for removing blood stasis and resolving phlegm. Herba Artemisiae Scopariae, Sargassum, Os Draconis, Oyster and Clam Shell are the main medicines for removing greasy fur, and hawthorn is an important auxiliary medicine.
3, suffering from phlegm and blood stasis, radish seeds and salvia miltiorrhiza are effective drug pairs, and radish seeds and seaweed are essential drug pairs for treating phlegm and blood stasis and dizziness. In particular, it can reduce diastolic pressure.
4, blood pressure should also pass through the viscera, cassia seed not only lowers blood pressure but also passes through the viscera. 5, Prunella vulgaris calming the liver can lower blood pressure, but also beneficial to the stomach to resolve phlegm, inhibit wood and help the soil.
