Wang Guorui, a native of Wuyuan (now Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province) in Yuan Dynasty, lived from the end of 13 century to the middle of 14 century, and was a famous acupuncturist at the end of Yuan Dynasty.
Works and achievements
Dou Hanqing, a famous doctor in Jin Dynasty, taught his acupuncture skills to Wang Guorui's father Wang Kai (Wang Jingze). Wang Guorui studied medicine with his father since childhood and became a famous master of acupuncture at that time. The main descendant of sinus acupuncture wrote The Jade Dragon Sutra of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, which was published in the second year (AD 1329). This book is a monograph on acupuncture combining theory with clinic, popularization and improvement, which contains excellent views of acupuncture and moxibustion doctors such as Wang on acupuncture and acupoint theory and clinic, and has high academic value.
On the basis of inheriting the sinus acupuncture, the meridian flow injection acupuncture was developed. On the basis of a deep understanding of the internal relationship between the rise and fall of Qi and blood in the eight meridians and time, he created an acupuncture method of selecting points on time every day. This kind of needling is based on the intersection of eight meridians and eight points, combined with the graphics of nine palaces and eight diagrams, and then derived according to the graphic changes of the sun and time, which is the "eight methods of soaring" in the first edition of Bian Que Shen Ying's needling Yulong Classic. There are many similarities between Wang's Eight Laws and the Eight Laws, and he was the pioneer of the Eight Laws in Ming Dynasty. Xu Feng's Complete Works of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Ming Dynasty and Flying Needle Diagram of Selecting Methods were created by Wang Fei's Flying Needle Method after deeply understanding the relationship between the rise and fall of Qi and blood in the Eight Meridians and time.
Wang's research on acupuncture is also very distinctive. There are two methods for reinforcing and reducing: point reinforcing and reducing and the same point reinforcing and reducing. For example, "Women's Blood Gas Pain: Hegu Buxie Sanyinjiao" belongs to different acupoints; "Cure the head wind and stab the wind pool, first make up and then diarrhea"; "Treating the nasal cavity by pricking the stars first and then reinforcing them" belongs to reinforcing and reducing at the same point. There are two kinds of reinforcing and reducing points: reinforcing and reducing amount and reducing amount. This method of reinforcing and reducing diarrhea became the first of later generations. In the Jade Dragon Song of Bian Que Shen Ying Acupuncture Jade Dragon Classic, there is also a point-through acupuncture method with one needle and many points. For example, "it is the most difficult to cure the head wind. Silk and bamboo can also be needles, but they must also penetrate the valley along the skin." One needle and two points are rare in the world. Wang also inherited Dou Hanqing's idea of crossing meridians and stabbing each other, and adopted the treatment methods of "pain in the left takes the right, pain in the right takes the left" and "pain in the right purges the left, pain in the left purges the right" respectively.
Wang Guorui is a famous doctor in the history of acupuncture development in China. He has both inheritance and innovation in acupuncture point theory and clinic, which has played a role in the development of acupuncture medicine.
